The working area of ​​the Revenue Board is entire Rajasthan and it is a semi-judicial body.

Its Chairman is a Chief Secretary level officer of the Indian Administrative Service, who is assisted by 20 members who are appointed by the State Government from among the Indian Administrative Service, Rajasthan Higher Judicial Service and lawyers specialized in revenue matters.

Along with judicial rights, various administrative rights related to land revenue and land records were also given to the Board of Revenue.

The Rajasthan Land Revenue Act and the rules made thereunder are implemented by the Divisional Commissioner, District Collectors, their subordinate Additional District Collectors, Sub-Divisional Officers, Assistant District Collectors and Executive Magistrates and Tehsildars.

Apart from reconsideration/references under Rajasthan Acts, the Board has also been given some judicial powers under some other Acts, such as hearing of appeals under Sub-investment Act, Public Property Act, Urban Land (Ceiling) Act etc.
